Recently, a discrepancy was raised in the community about whether there is an aquifer under our proposed Ajax Mine project site.

Often, the word “aquifer” is used to describe an underground spring system of water. Through all of our studies and testing we have not encountered an underground spring system of water under our proposed project.

The map presented here is a BC Ministry of Environment map representing the bedrock aquifer (wetted gravel) of Sugarloaf Hill and the sand and gravel aquifer of Peterson creek – elements of any body of water.

Our geotechnical consultants, a group of professional, registered experts, have done significant testing in the area and have designed the proposed pit and waste rock management facilities to ensure the water systems of Sugarloaf Hill and Peterson Creek maintain their quality. As an example, we are planning to carefully divert a 1,500 metre section of Peterson Creek so it will be protected.

Our proposed mine development will not affect the quality or quantity of the water flow or fish stocks through the Peterson creek system.

If you have further questions pertaining to the water systems around our proposed project, or other questions about the Ajax Mine project, please call us at 1-250-374-5446, email us at info@ajaxmine.ca or visit our Community Relations Centre at 330 Seymour Street in Kamloops.
